Slim Thug Apologizes To Cassie After Diddy Hotel Video Surfaces: “I’ll Take This L”

Slim Thug has given a public apology to Cassie Ventura after footage of the singer being physically assaulted by rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs surfaced last Friday (May 17).

The rapper took to social media after the video, which shows Combs striking and kicking Ventura in a hotel in 2016, was unveiled by CNN. He admitted his error in judgement after seemingly defending Combs against Ventura’s allegations of physical abuse in a since-settled lawsuit last year.

“Damn Diddy,” Slim Thug captioned an Instagram post sharing a news report of the now-viral video of the Bad Boy Records founder chasing and terrorizing Ventura, who is said to have been fleeing the rapper following a physical altercation that occured in their hotel room.

The Houston native explained his reasoning for standing behind Combs upon Ventura’s claims being brought to the forefront, as he wanted to show solidarity with a fellow African-American man in a time of adversity despite a seeming lack of proof against him.

“I tried to ride with the Blk man who had no charges yet but I can’t stand behind this,” Thug conceded. “I’ll take this L.” However, he remained adamant in his hesitance to lend credence to reports of criminal or salacious behavior based strictly off hearsay, online or otherwise.

“I still will ride with my ppl until I see some sort of proof I don’t believe in blogs or civil suits,” the Swishahouse rep noted, concluding his message with “apologies” to Venutra and “whoever else was on the right side this time.”

Upon the publicization of Ventura’s lawsuit against Combs, a number of celebrities and pundits weighed in on the matter, Slim Thug included. The hitmaker insinuated that Ventura was angling for a payday to supplement her and her husband’s lifestyle after ending her relationship with Combs in 2019. Slim Thug compared Combs to Bill Cosby, who was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting multiple women throughout his career.

“When sh*t go down, speak on that sh*t right there or it should be null and void,” Thug said in reference to the timing of the allegations. “You shouldn’t be able to do sh*t unless you let the people know what happened immediately. There should be a time limit on that sh*t.”

He continued, “What happened was […], you were f**king with a billionaire with all this bread all this time, and then you went and followed your heart to fucking with a trainer. That apartment got small, that lifestyle fell off, now it’s struggle time, the love wearing off and now you trying to come up with ways to figure out how to get paid […] Quit trying to expose people for money.”

After suffering backlash for his initial comments, Slim Thug would later walk back his statements, insisting he had no ill will towards Ventura and that he was simply sharing his “personal opinion” regarding the matter. “I’m sorry we don’t agree on everything… I don’t hate Cassie, I didn’t even know Cassie was Black,” he said at the time.
