Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson hospitalized for burns after bonfire accident Friday

The DJ of Iowa-based heavy metal band Slipknot was hospitalized Friday after receiving "serious burns" from a bonfire accident.

Sid Wilson, 47, in an Instagram live post on Friday, announced his injuries while lying in a hospital bed. He has visible burns on his face and arms and has singed eyebrows. He was being tended to for the duration of the video.

The video has the caption "Ouch."

"Hi everybody, I had an explosion in my face," he said in the five-minute-long video. "I’m OK, I’m gonna be OK. But I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms."

Throughout the video, the camera is seen shaking. He told viewers he was getting an X-ray to make sure he didn't "inhale any flames," and was seen doing breathing exercises.

MercyOne media contact Todd Mizener confirmed Wilson was treated at MercyOne and later released to a burn center. Mizener was not able to confirm which Mercy location Wilson was treated at or what burn center he was transferred to.

The only burn treatment center in Iowa is at the University of Iowa Healthcare center in Iowa City.

In a second Instagram live a few hours later with the caption "Im going to be ok everyone. Love you all," he is seen emphasizing he is OK and is in "good hands."

"I'm a trooper," he said laughing. "Not exactly, but I'm hanging in there pretty good."

He goes on to say "They're gonna shave my hair, so say goodbye to the long hair."

His girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne, posted on her Instagram story, saying "This is why you don’t f*** with burn piles. He literally set himself on fire, exploded everything," with Wilson being treated in the background.

Wilson confirmed in the second video that he was in a bonfire accident on his farm.

He joked he got his eyebrows done and has "real sideburns."

Osbourne posted Saturday afternoon on her Instagram story saying they were already on their way to pick Wilson up from the hospital.

"He is doing so much better," she said. "We'll give you more of an update later ... he's still in a lot of pain but he's doing so, so, so much better. We love you guys, thank you."

In an Instagram post, Slipknot said "he's recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend."

Slipknot's next show, "Rocklahoma," is in Pryor, Oklahoma on Sept. 1.

“I’m going to be all right you guys. I don’t care what it takes, I will see you on tour,” Wilson said in his Instagram live.

Knotfest, a Des Moines concert featuring the band and other heavy metal bands at Water Works Park, will be on Saturday, Sept. 21.
