Slipknot’s Sid Wilson In Recovery After Being Hospitalized For Sustaining ‘Serious’ Burns In Bonfire Accident
Slipknot’s Sid Wilson is recovering at home after being hospitalized for “serious” burns sustained during a bonfire accident.
In a series of Instagram Live videos posted to his social media account yesterday, the DJ and keyboard musician assured fans he was going to be “all right” as he updated viewers on his journey.

“I had an explosion in my face,” he said in the first five-minute clip. “I’m OK, I’m gonna be OK, but I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms.” In the self-facing video, he shows close-up shots of his “singed” eyebrows, “blistered” mouth and arms, which he said received the brunt of the flames. “Ouch,” he captioned the video simply.
In a statement posted to the heavy metal band’s page, Slipknot wrote, “Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body. He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for the well wishes, and will see you all soon.”
Wilson’s first video shows medical personnel talking him through deep breaths. Hooked up to a nasal cannula, he said an X-ray was going to be performed to ensure he didn’t “inhale any flames.” In the background, nurses can be heard asking him where to place his hospital bracelet. No stranger to accidents, Wilson recalled how he was likely at the same hospital during the New Year last year, when he cut his finger off.
Seeming to be in good spirits, Wilson admitted his skin “stings” a lot and his wounds were getting dressed, though he added, “I don’t care what it takes. I will see you on tour.”
“I’m allergic to fire, apparently,” he joked. In the background, a woman can be heard shouting “Get off Instagram” and “get the f— off the phone.”
A longer second video, totaling over 10 minutes, shows Wilson being transported to another facility with a better burn treatment center. In the update, the musician pointed to his social media presence as evidence of his state being “not terrible.”
“I will say, I do know better,” he said, adding that he was burned from working on his farm. “Everyone out there, be really safe when you’re messing with fire. Something I dealt with tons of times.”
He continued, “This ain’t gonna stop me.” Joking once more he added, “Did my brows for free. Got some real sideburns,” and “cheap Botox” for his lips.
“I want to say thank you to everybody for all the get well wishes and all the stuff,” Wilson concluded in the clip. “Everyone don’t worry about me. I’m gonna be OK. I don’t want anyone to get too worked up over this. That’s why I’m on IG Live, so you can all see, ‘Here I am.’ Strong man, gonna be all right. Just need to slow down sometimes and trust that inner voice. Sometimes when you’re a big brave man that aspect of it can get in the way of rational thought. Rational thought’s a lot tougher than anything else most of the time.”
Partner Kelly Osbourne also took to Instagram to share updates with a series of Stories posted today while she was en route to pick up Wilson from the hospital. “He’s still in a lot of pain, but he’s doing so, so much better,” she shared, thanking fans for the “well wishes and prayers.”
Also having her share of fun after cleaning his wounds, Osbourne shared a series of videos with Wilson asleep, set to popular tunes featuring the word “fire” in them. Her songs of choice included, “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys, “Firestarter” by The Prodigy, “Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis, “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel and “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele.
Posting a selfie earlier today, the musician captioned it, “On my way home.”
