The comedian says she didn't even have to practice the impression beforehand because she's just "always loved Waterboy."

Melissa Villase?or once did an Adam Sandler impression so good that she accidentally stole Kristen Wiig's role on Saturday Night Live.

During an appearance on the Fly on the Wall podcast with SNL alums Dana Carvey and David Spade, Villase?or opened up about the incident while the trio were talking about doing impressions on the sketch comedy series.

Spade was lamenting the experience, saying, "My impressions were about one a year. But the problem with SNL is you just get assigned stuff, and they go, 'You read a sketch.' And you read through, and you're like, 'In three pages I have to do, you know, Alec Baldwin.' You're like, 'I do?'"

When Carvey asked Villase?or if she'd had the experience of being assigned to an impression, she replied that "for sure it would happen" and her "favorite moment" of such an instance was for the May 4, 2019 episode, which was hosted by Sandler.

In the sketch in question, Sandler goes to a family reunion where all his relatives and friends act very similarly to famous characters he's played.

"And at the table read, I wasn't originally in it, which is like, why didn't you write me in this?" she recalled. "I mean, you know, but the writers were like, 'Hey, can you read as Waterboy on behalf of Kristen Wiig? Because she's gonna play Waterboy.'"

Villase?or said she begrudgingly agreed to do the table read for Wiig, who was a guest star on the episode, because The Waterboy is her favorite Sandler movie. "And I did it so good at the table because I'm like, that's my favorite, you know? And, Lorne [Michaels] was like, 'Yeah. Maybe keep Melissa as Waterboy.' And I was like, 'F--- yeah!'"

Villase?or told the hosts that she didn't even have to practice the impression beforehand because she's just "always loved Waterboy."

As for Wiig, she ended up playing a different character — Sandler's mom — in the sketch, which also featured a cameo from Jimmy Fallon, the week's musical guest, Shawn Mendes, and cast members Chris Redd, Mikey Day, Kyle Mooney, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kenan Thompson, Leslie Jones, Beck Bennett, and, of course, Villase?or.
