‘SNL Weekend Update’ Says Harvey Weinstein Should Be in Prison

“SNL” nailed embattled Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein during its “Weekend Update” segment this week, joking about his reported plan to enter rehab for sex addiction.

After two weeks of stories about women coming forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual assault and harassment, Colin Jost opened “Weekend Update” by discussing the situation.

“Weinstein, who has been accused of multiple counts of sexual assault is going to Europe for sex rehab,” Jost said. “He doesn’t need sex rehab. He needs a specialized facility where there are no women, no contact with the outside world, metal bars, and it’s a prison.”

“You know, this is a tough spot for a comedian, because it’s so hard to make jokes about sexual assault, but it’s so easy to make jokes about a guy that looks like this,” Michael Che continued, indicating a photo of Weinstein. “He looks like chewed bubble gum rolled in cat hair.”

Che continued to lay into Weinstein as the segment continued.

“Weinstein told reporters that he was seeking help, and added ‘We all make mistakes,'” Che said. “Nah, man, a mistake is me walking into the wrong bathroom and using it anyway because I was crowning. But you, you assaulted dozens of women. That’s not a mistake. That’s a full season of ‘Law and Order.’ It’s a verb now. As in, ‘If this guy tries to Weinstein me I’m going to cut off a little Harvey.'”

The segment ended with one more joke about Weinstein’s looks.

“Doesn’t he look like a well dressed skin tag?” Che asked.

News and allegations have been surfacing about Weinstein for more than a week, but “SNL” didn’t address the story in last week’s episode. Weinstein was fired from the company he co-founded, The Weinstein Company, by its board as more and more women have come forward to accuse Weinstein of assault and misconduct.
