Snoop Dogg Impresses Olympic Fans With Hilarious Steeplechase Commentary
Snoop Dogg is a global icon, and his commentary on the Olympics‘ 2024 Track and Field prove why.
Sunday (June 23), the world found the West Coast Hip-Hop legend on the microphone calling the track and field trial competitions. And, of course, he broke down the games in a way that only the Doggfather can, bringing a refreshing aura to the world event.
Rocking a pair of golden framed shades, matching gold chain, and a pair of Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 41, the Long Beach native got busy as he called the steeplechase event, saying, “What we’re about to see right now is they’re about to get to dipping, gripping, riding, slipping and hopefully not sliding, jumping over this hurdle. Ah! In the water. Oh, get up outta there—they comin’ up behind him seven—eight-deep like horses. I love it.”
“Oh, he jumped on the top of the hurdle. You can do that?” Snoop added while becoming increasingly invested in the sporting event. “That was a cool trick right there. I liked that one. He went off the tippy-top.”
NBC’s official account reshared the footage and detailed his performance as “electric,” and it seems that the general public would have to agree. “This may finally be the thing that takes track to the masses. Brilliant. Martha being commentator 2 would complete me,” one fan responded. “Snoop should do the commentary for every Olympic event,” another account affectionately stated. “Adding Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart to the commentary years ago was amazing comedic fun light-hearted it made me love the Olympics even more than I already do looking forward to more of them this year,” a fan said, detailing NBC’s decision to add Kevin Hart and Snoop to the mix for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Commentating wasn’t the only thing Snoop Dogg did at the 2024 Track and Fields. The rapper also laced up his Nikes and got to it on the polyurethane track, getting in some cardio ahead of the Olympic Trials. Snoop Dogg didn’t do half bad either, as the 52-year-old weedhead managed to run a 34.44 second in a 200-meter activity.
It’ll be fascinating to see what nuanced or unhinged direction Snoop Dogg takes his commentary in, as the trials heat up and the 2024 Olympics set to start in just a month on Friday (July 26). Regardless of how Snoop decides to call the official games this year, it will surely be an event you don’t want to miss.
