Snoop Dogg Is Looking For The Right Actor To Play His Younger Self In Developing Biopic
Snoop Dogg is on a mission to find the perfect actor to bring his life story to the big screen for his developing biopic.
The Doggfather himself spilled the beans during a chat with Entertainment Tonight recently, revealing that while he’s been juggling his coaching gig on The Voice, he’s also been searching for the right person to “embody the spirit” of his younger self.
“Actually, I’m looking for somebody who can embody the spirit when I was that young, rough around the edges—trying to discover who I was, and that to me is going to be a phenomenal actor,” he shared around the 00:39-minute mark. He also shared that although he’s doing everything right now, one thing he’s not getting to do is “sleep.”
This developing biopic was first announced in 2022 via Variety, and is now cooking up at Universal Pictures with the legendary Allen Hughes (Menace II Society and Dead Presidents) directing. Additionally, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘s co-writer, Joe Robert Cole, is penning the script.
“I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I’m trying to portray on screen, and the memory I’m trying to leave behind,” Dogg said in a statement at the time. “It was the perfect marriage. It was holy matrimony, not holy macaroni.”
Snoop’s life story will be the first flick coming out of his own Death Row Pictures, soundtracked with classics from his extensive discography.
