Soap Operas’ Greatest Mom Of All Time For Mother’s Day
It’s Mother’s Day in the United States, which means it’s time to check out the soap opera moms. Over the years, soaps have featured both amazing and awful mothers. They’re often the hearts of their households, and through their dedication and love, they hold their families together.
Greatest Of All Time
Days of Our Lives matriarch Alice Horton is arguably the greatest soap opera mom of all time. An original cast member, Frances Reid portrayed the Horton family matriarch from 1965 until her death in 2010, although her last airdate actually came at Christmas 2007.
This loving mother became famous for her delicious donuts, and once, those tasty fried circles of dough even helped Roman escape from prison! She stayed devoted to her husband Tom (Macdonald Carey) from 1930 to his death in 1994 and beyond.
Her five children, Thomas, Adelaide, Michael, William, and Marie, blessed her with ten grandchildren who then created ten great-grandchildren and several more great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy is one that lives on throughout all the Days of Our Lives.
Between her tasty sweets and her loving advice, she helped keep her family together for decades, and her absence in Salem still hurts to this day.
Honorable Mentions
While Alice Horton takes the top honors as the greatest soap opera mother of all time, there are other top soap moms who deserve an honorable mention.
They include General Hospital‘s Lila Quartermaine (Anna Lee), The Young and the Restless‘ Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery).
