Soap star David Gail has died at the age of 58.

Gail was best known for playing Dr. Joe Scanlon on Port Charles, the spinoff of General Hospital. His death was confirmed by Peter Ferriero, who hosts a Beverly Hills, 90210 rewatch podcast. (Gail played Stuart Carson, the one-time fiancé of Shannen Doherty’s Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills, 90210.)

Ferriero noted via Instagram Story that Gail’s friends had recently informed him of the actor’s passing. To honor Gail’s memory, Ferriero posted throwback footage when he appeared on the podcast.

“In memory of David Gail. Here are a few stories he shared when he joined the podcast,” Ferreiro’s podcast Instagram page wrote on Saturday, January 20, referring to clips of Gail discussing Stuart and Brenda’s whirlwind engagement during her quickie trip to Las Vegas.
