Soccer Mommy to Return This Fall With New Album ‘Evergreen’
Soccer Mommy will ring in the fall season with the new album Evergreen, out Oct. 25 via Loma Vista Recordings.
Sophie Allison previewed the record with the stunner “M.” Similar to her previous single “Lost,” the track shows Allison grappling with grief over stark chords and an uplifting, almost hopeful melody. “I miss you/Like a loyal dog/Waiting by the door to hear the lock turn,” she sings in the devastating lines, admitting in a later verse, “I hear your voice in all my favorite songs.”

Allison released “Lost” in June, while performing a series of intimate concerts intimate she dubbed “The Lost Tour.” Allison observed how the track felt like “something new and something old” at the same time: “It’s a song that’s full of reflection and I wanted its production to really capture that feeling,” she said. “I’m happy to have a chance to play it at these more intimate solo shows, because I think it really shines in that setting.”
Allison has a handful of shows on the books, including a stop in Beech Mountain, North Carolina on Aug. 10 and the All Things Go Festival next month, taking place in both Washington D.C. and New York City. In June, at a show at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever Cemetery, she brought Phoebe Bridgers onstage for a cover of Elliott Smith’s “The Biggest Lie.”
Evergreen follows the excellent Sometimes Forever, released in 2022 and produced by Oneohtrix Point Never’s Daniel Lopatin. “It’s important to constantly be trying to change yourself,” Allison told us at the time. “I don’t ever want to be in a box.”
