Social media in awe over Simone Biles, Team USA gymnastics Olympic performance; former Packers safety Jonathan Owens reacts

Green Bay Packers fans got an up-close look at Olympic royalty with Simone Biles at many games last year to cheer on her husband, Jonathan Owens.

She was always decked out in green and gold, and wearing Owens' jersey.

Owens returned the favor at the 2024 Paris Olympics, sporting a Biles-themed graphic T-shirt and just got an up-close look at her becoming the golden girl again on her redemption tour.

Biles on Tuesday added to her massive gold medal collection when she led Team USA to victory in the women's gymnastics team final.

And Owens loved every minute of it.

"Just amazing," Owens wrote on Instagram followed by a smily face blushing emoji and a heart.

Owens, while wearing Biles' gold medal around his neck, later offered a tribute to Biles on Instagram along with a photo with Biles while out on the town in Paris.

"Witnessing history every time you step on the mat ????," Owens wrote. "Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful i was there to see it ??????

After missing out at seeing Biles' qualifying performance in person Sunday and a brief flight delay, Owens arrived in Paris on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the team competition. Owens sat with Biles' parents inside Bercy Arena to take in the moment. He even documented Biles' scores on a sheet of paper.

"Gold medal baby!!!" he also wrote over a video of Biles and her teammates draped in an American flag and embracing one another.

Owens signed with the Chicago Bears after playing one season with the Packers in 2023. The Bears excused Owens from training camp practices this week to watch Biles.

Biles and Team USA dominated the team final, finishing nearly six points ahead of second-place Italy. It was the team event three years ago at the Paris Olympics when Biles pulled out after a case of the twisties. Since then, she worked on her mental health and took time away from the sport before having a triumphant return.

The victory gives Biles eight Olympic medals, the most of any gymnast in U.S. history. It was her fifth gold medal.

Last year, Biles became the most decorated gymnast of all time when combined with her 30 world championship medals.

Social media celebrated Team USA's third team gold in the last four Olympics and Biles' record-setting moment.

Watching Biles achieve athletic greatness were some of the all-time greats.

Swimming icon Michael Phelps, who has won the most most medals in Olympic history, was cheering on Biles and Team USA, as was four-time Olympic gold medalist and 23-major champion tennis legend Serena Williams, who participated in the opening ceremony on Friday.

Simone Biles has a nickname for Team USA gymnastics

Fierce Five. Final Five. Fighting Four. Those have been nicknames of recent Team USA gymnastics teams. What is this year's gold-medal winning team called?

Biles had some fun during a post-performance press conference calling them FAAFO Five, which stands for "F--- Around And Find Out Five."

Biles on social media later gave the team another name: Golden Girls, "because oldest Olympic team."
