Sofía Vergara attends the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards at Peacock Theater on September 15, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.

Sofía Vergara has a bone to pick with the Television Academy.

The actress made history as the first Latina to be nominated for outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for Griselda at the 2024 Emmy Awards. But after the award went to Jodie Foster for True Detective: Night Country, Vergara took to social media for a sarcastic clapback.

In a video recorded by a friend in attendance at the awards show alongside her, Vergara looked gorgeous as she claimed she was "robbed" of the win.

"They robbed me of the Emmy for the fifth time," she said in Spanish in the clip, referring to the fact that she has previously been nominated four times for Modern Family.

Following her nomination for the Netflix series, which she starred in and produced, Vergara said in a statement that it was an "incredible honor" to be recognized.

“Wow. Griselda was my first dramatic role ever, and it took us 15 years to bring her to life. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who was a part of this series. I could have never done this without my director Andres Baiz, my costar Alberto Guerra, Eric Newman and the full creative team, my partner and producer Luis Balaguer, Ted Sarandos, Bela Bajaria, and their team at Netflix, and all the amazing cast and crew," she continued.

"I never dreamed that after Modern Family I would be able to work on something as special as Griselda."

At the series premiere in January, Vergara told PEOPLE "a lot of work" and "a lot of preparation" went into making the show, which saw her embody the real-life Colombian drug queenpin.

"I had to really investigate what it meant to be a woman in that era. A mother, a Colombian woman… that turned into this monster. So, it was a really difficult task for me to understand it," she said.

However, there were several similarities she could pull from to channel the drug boss. "We are both Colombian, we are both immigrants, we are both mothers, we are both women. So I did relate to her a lot."
