Sofía Vergara Is Red-Hot at the 2024 Emmys in a Sexy, Low-Cut Gown

The actress is nominated for her first Emmy since 2013 for her work on Netflix's 'Griselda'

Sofía Vergara has arrived in grand style to the Emmy Awards 2024.

The Griselda star and producer, 52, is nominated for outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her titular role in the Netflix show, and she wore a dramatic look to celebrate the achievement at the Sept. 15 awards show. (The proud Colombian-born actress is the first-ever Latina in the award's history to earn the nomination!)

Vergara was a bombshell in a sleeveless, floor length red Dolce & Gabbana gown with a deep cut sweetheart neckline. The dramatic gown clung to her curves with material that gathered just below her waist to create a beautiful flowing effect.

America's Got Talent judge accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and wore her brown hair down with a slight curl at the bottom. Makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani prepped her skin with SumaNurica products and did a soft brown eyeshadow, fluttery eyelashes courtesy of the Kiss Lash Couture Naked Drama faux lashes and a pink lip for makeup.

Griselda is the first project Vergara is nominated for since 2013, the year she was up for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for Modern Family. She was also nominated in the same category in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

In order to play Griselda Blanco, the Colombian drug cartel leader, Vergara had to undergo a drastic physical transformation to really get into the character. In February, she told PEOPLE that she spent “three hours a day in hair and makeup."

The show's director and executive producer, Andrés Baiz, also previously said in a Netflix video that Vergara's makeover into the drug lord was "one of the toughest aspects of the whole show."

But fully immersing herself in the world of the godmother of cocaine took more than just the costume. Speaking with PEOPLE in June 2023, she said she paid close attention to the small but very important details, like the way she talked and walked. "I didn't want it to look like Gloria Pritchett with a fake nose. I wanted the people to forget about Gloria — that was the main thing.”

"She was maybe not a Barbie doll, but the real Griselda Blanco had something — she had some kind of sex appeal that I needed to show," Vergara told Variety.
