Sofia Carson, China Anne McClain, Victor Boyce and More Celebrate Cameron Boyce on What Would've Been His 25th Birthday
The 'Descendants' actor died in his sleep in 2019 after suffering a seizure due to epilepsy
Cameron Boyce's loved ones are honoring him on what would've been his 25th birthday.
The actor was just 20 years old when he suffered a seizure and died in his sleep in July 2019, but on May 28, his legacy was alive as his former costars, friends and family members remembered his light.
“Happy 25th birthday my beautiful son. There's no words to express how much we love and miss you," Cameron's father, Victor Boyce, wrote on Instagram as he shared a black-and-white photo of his late son. "Even though you've left us, you still continue to touch and inspire people all around the globe. It's still feels like a dream that I wish I could wake up from [sic]. I miss you so much Cameron.”
Cameron's younger sister Maya posted a black screen on her Instagram Stories with "25" written over it in tribute to her older brother.
Sofia Carson, who starred in the Disney Channel movie series The Descendants with Cameron, shared a darkly-lit photo of him on her Instagram Stories, writing over it, “Our Angel.”
She also shared a link to the Cameron Boyce Foundation, which his family launched weeks after his sudden death, and fundraises to cure epilepsy, from which he suffered.
The 31-year-old actress shared a photo of Cameron to her feed, too, as she wrote, "Happy Birthday to our Angel. I know you’re dancing in heaven. And god are they lucky to have you. Ps. I miss your smile and sunshine a whole lot extra today."
"Adore you forever my Cam. Forever and ever. And ever," Carson added.
China Anne McClain, who worked with Cameron on the Descendants movies as well as Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2, marked the late actor's birthday with a post as she shared a side-by-side of photos of them on set of the Adam Sandler film and a grown-up shot of them on a red carpet for Descendants.
"Happy birthday Cam ???? i love you,” she captioned the post.
Karan Brar, who starred with Cameron on Jessie and lived with him prior to his death, shared a playful photo of his former costar on his Instagram Stories.
"Happy birthday cam :)," Brar, 25, wrote over the photo of Cameron hugging his leg as he laid on the floor.
His Descendants costars Sarah Jeffery and Booboo Stewart also shared posts, with Jeffery, 28, wishing her friend a "happy heavenly 25th."
"It'll never make sense," she wrote of the loss alongside a black-and-white photo of her hugging Cameron. "I miss you and love you always ??."
Stewart, 30, shared a sweet photo of his friend laughing on his Instagram Stories, writing over it, "Happy birthday dream team partner love you @thecameronboyce."
Kenny Ortega, who worked with Cameron on the Descendants movies as well, shared a photo of the late actor laughing on his Instagram, writing, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON BOYCE ??Your Love, Compassion, Joy, and Generosity live amongst us, and continue to inspire our journeys."
Skai Jackson’s mom, Kiya Cole, also paid tribute to Cameron on his birthday as she shared a compilation of videos of him dancing and smiling, writing in the caption, "Happy 25th Birthday @thecameronboyce ! We love and miss you ?????? never forgotten #cameronboyce."
Skai, 22, reposted her mother's post to her Instagram Stories, and also shared a fan-made collage of photos of him, writing over it, "Happy birthday Cameron ??."
In previous years, the Cameron Boyce Foundation has hosted a fundraising gala, aptly titled Cam for a Cause, around the late actor's birthday, as a means of remembering him, honoring his legacy and raising money to find a cure for epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), which caused his death in 2019.
At last year's gala, Descendants stars Carson, Dove Cameron and Booboo Stewart reunited as they attended the event, which will return again this year in less than two weeks, according to the nonprofit's TikTok.

When the gala was first kicked off in 2022, Cameron's father Victor told PEOPLE that his son "didn't want presents" on his birthday when he was alive, and the annual event honors that.
"He wanted to give back and he would always do something to help others. In that spirit, that's why we're doing the gala."
