'Sonic the Hedgehog' trailer re-do earns praise from fans who criticized first look
The new trailer for "Sonic the Hedgehog" is here – and some fans are already giving it their stamp of approval.
Fans of the speedy blue character weren't happy in April when Paramount dropped the first trailer of the real-world movie based on the beloved video game franchise from publisher Sega. Viewers found the character’s human-like teeth and body proportions to be inconsistent with the Sonic of the ’90s.
Days later, the film's director Jeff Fowler reassured Twitter users that the "message is loud and clear."
"You aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen," he added.
Now, six months later, the updated trailer featuring a redesigned Sonic is pulling through, and Sonic fans were quick to react to the updated trailer.
"Just because you listened to criticism of the original trailer and put in all that work to make the improvements. I’ll reward that! Count me in for opening weekend," @aaronthew tweeted in response to the trailer.
"Wow! Big props to you for listening to the fans and coming up with something that actually looks good!" @brightesteyes applauded in the replies.
User @Its_Tsukuyomi also praised Paramount in his response: "Can we have a #ThankyouParamount for being one of the few companies in the world that actually listen to their consumer. Admits when they're wrong and attempts to fix it. You all need to be commended for that. So.. Thank you"
"I can’t believe how good Sonic looks now," user @MrDalekJD tweeted along with a side-by-side comparison of the characters. "Man fully had a glow up & actually looks like himself now!

"Upgraded design is MUCH better. Movie looks like fun... I’ll be watching it!" @Pagmyst tweeted.
"Okay, now we're talking! The redesign is great and I could not be happier that they were okay with delaying the movie and I'm sure people there will enjoy the results as well!" @gamerturk95 tweeted.
The film's star Jim Carrey, who plays Sonic's nemesis Doctor Robotnik, also started trending on Twitter Tuesday thanks to his appearance in the trailer. The film also stars James Marsden and Tika Sumpter.
"Bless Jim Carrey for giving his best Dr. 'Eggman' (Robotnik) performance!" user @mayhem_crimson tweeted.
"Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik in the new #SonicTheHedgehog movie trailer is a MOOD," @AdeleAnkers tweeted.
"'Sonic the Hedgehog' latest trailer is well-executed madness. Jim Carrey is finally BACK!" @pallav_ declared.
The film, which was originally scheduled to release in November, will now hit theaters on Feb. 14, 2020.
