Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton Morgan to Star in ‘One Tree Hill’ Sequel in the Works at Netflix
Netflix is eyeing a return to Tree Hill.
The streamer is in early development on a sequel series to the former CW mainstay One Tree Hill. Hilarie Burton Morgan and Sophia Bush are set to reprise their roles from that series and will also serve as executive producers alongside their former co-star Danneel Ackles.

Warner Bros. Television, which produced One Tree Hill, is also behind the potential sequel. Becky Hartman Edwards (Firefly Lane) is writing the follow-up.
WBTV and Netflix declined to comment.
One Tree Hill aired for nine seasons on The WB and The CW, following the lives of a group of high schoolers and, following a four-year time jump midway through the show’s run, young adults in a fictional North Carolina town.
In addition to Bush, Burton Morgan and Ackles, the show’s cast also featured James Lafferty, Chad Michael Murray, Bethany Joy Lenz, Paul Johansson, Lee Norris and Antwon Tanner. Jackson Brundage, Lisa Goldstein, Austin Nichols, Robert Buckley, Shantel VanSanten and Jana Kramer joined the series later in its run.
Several years after the series ended, Burton Morgan, Ackles and Bush supported Audrey Wauchope, a writer on One Tree Hill, when Wauchope accused series creator Mark Schwahn of sexually harassing her and writing partner Rachel Specter when they worked on the show. Other cast and crewmembers co-signed the statement of support and said they too had been mistreated “psychologically and emotionally.” Schwahn is not involved in the sequel.
Bush, Burton Morgan and Lenz have hosted a rewatch podcast about the series titled Drama Queens since 2021; Buckley joined as a co-host earlier this year.
Edwards will executive produce the project with Bush, Burton Morgan, Danneel Ackles and her husband, Jensen Ackles (via the couple’s Chaos Machine company). Emily Moss Wilson serves as producer.
