Sophia Bush Revealed That Her Girlfriend, Ashlyn Harris, Was Left Appalled When They Rewatched A Disturbing “One Tree Hill” Scene Involving Diet Pills
Sophia Bush has revealed how her girlfriend, Ashlyn Harris, reacted to a controversial One Tree Hill scene.
Sophia played Brooke Davis on the WB/CW series from 2003 to 2012. In recent years, she has reacted to old episodes of the show on her podcast Drama Queens, along with Bethany Joy Lenz and Hilarie Burton.
Now, as you might be aware, there are a few One Tree Hill scenes that haven’t aged so well since they first aired — one of which involves diet pills.
The scene in question involved Lisa Goldstein’s character, Millicent, taking diet pills after Jana Kramer’s character, Alex, describes her as a plus-sized model.
Discussing the Season 7 scene on the latest Drama Queens podcast episode, Sophia revealed that Ashlyn was left appalled when she watched it recently.
Sophia and Ashlyn went public with their relationship earlier this year when she penned a powerful essay about coming out as queer to Glamour magazine.
“By the way, Ash and [my friend] Sammy watched with me yesterday, and Ash goes, ‘Diet pills? Why?!’” Sophia recalled.
“Essentially what they’re saying, obviously it’s ridiculous, but this character is telling this character, ‘I’m the model, and you’re the plus-sized model,’” she explained.
“[Ashlyn] goes, ‘No!’ Screamed at the top of her lungs. And I’m like, ‘Well, welcome to Tree Hill. This is why everyone had a complex. You’re welcome,’” she added.
