Sophie Turner on 'Game of Thrones' ending: 'I still haven't cried about it properly yet'
It's been three weeks since we said goodbye to Game of Thrones — and nearly a year since production wrapped on HBO's mega-popular television epic — but Sophie Turner admits "it's still a touchy subject" for her to discuss.
"I still haven't cried about it properly yet," Turner told Yahoo Entertainment last week while on the press rounds for her new film Dark Phoenix, where she was joined by co-stars Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee (watch above). "Actually, I did a bit last night. I did cry a bit about it."
Turner, of course, played Sansa Stark, the increasingly ambitious crimson-haired Lady of Winterfell-turned-Queen of the North who had a fair share of fans and pundits in her corner rooting for her to take ultimate power over Westeros and sit on the Iron Throne in the lead-up the series' much-hyped and ultimately divisive May 19 finale.
The 23-year-old actress, who headlines the 12th installment of the X-Men series as mutant Jean Grey (aka Dark Phoenix), said she learned how the series would end a full year-and-a-half ago.
"My reaction was numbness. I just walked around for hours," Turner said. (The sensation was apparently common: GoT co-star Emilia Clarke told Variety she felt "numb" watching the finale.)
Beyond her personal publicist Gertie Lowe, Turner said she didn't tell a soul when it came to television's most anticipated endings in years. But her husband Joe Jonas sleuthed it out.
"Joe was on set so he figured it out," Turner said. The Jonas Brother even had to sign an NDA. Now that's a power move.
