Sophie Turner Reveals Exactly How 'Hero' Taylor Swift Helped Her During Joe Jonas Divorce
Sophie Turner is getting candid about how her ex-husband’s famous ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift, helped her out after her marriage fell apart. Turner, 28, broke her silence for the first time since her August 2023 split from Joe Jonas in a candid interview with British Vogue, in which she called Swift her “hero.”
“I’ve always said that my girlfriends are the loves of my life,” Turner, 28, confessed in her June 2024 cover story which was published online on Wednesday, May 15. “The support I had from the women in my life during that time was the most amazing thing to see. I felt so held and so protected.”

The mom-of-two, who married Jonas in 2019, went on to shoutout Swift for her support. The two stars were seen hanging out several times in the immediate aftermath of her high-profile separation from Jonas, 34, and it was even reported that Turner had moved into Swift’s New York apartment, a report Turner appeared to confirm to British Vogue.
“Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,” Turner said. “I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me, and provided us with a home and a safe space.”
Turner was a certified Swiftie even before marrying the singer’s ex-boyfriend, a fact the Game of Thrones actress and the Jonas Brothers star often poked fun at. In 2021, Turner jokingly shared a screenshot of herself listening to “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” a vault track from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) which fans believe was inspired by Swift’s 2007 breakup from Jonas. The pair famously dated for a couple of months before Jonas ended their relationship in a 27-second phone call, per Swift.
Turner reportedly used Swift’s New York home as a US-base while beginning early divorce and custody proceedings with Jonas, who filed for divorce on September 5 after weeks of speculation about their split.
Turner and Jonas started dating in 2017 before welcoming daughters Willa and Delphine in 2020 and 2022, respectively. In his divorce filing, Jonas claimed the marriage was “irretrievably broken” and argued it was “in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.” Turner was seemingly vying for the ability to relocate the children back to her UK home and filed a lawsuit accusing Jonas of unlawfully keeping their kids in the US. The couple reached a temporary custody arrangement in October and Turner’s lawsuit was dismissed in January.
