Sosie Bacon, Amanda Righetti & Janet Montgomery Among 5 Added To Prime Video’s ‘Scarpetta’

EXCLUSIVE: Sosie Bacon (Smile, Mare of Easttown), Amanda Righetti (Reagan, The Mentalist), Janet Montgomery (1923, New Amsterdam), Stephanie Faracy (Nobody Wants This, Uncoupled) and Mike Vogel (Sex/Life) have joined the recurring cast of Prime Video’s Scarpetta.

They join the previously announced Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, who will both also executive produce; Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Rosy McEwen, Jake Cannavale and Ariana DeBose.

Based on Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling book series, Scarpetta follows Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), Chief Medical Examiner, as she returns to Virginia and resumes her former position with complex relationships, both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with plenty of grudges and secrets to uncover.

Bacon plays Abby Turnball, a prize-winning reporter; Righetti plays Past Dorothy; Montgomery plays Janet, Lucy’s wife; Faracy plays Present Maggie, Scarpetta’s inherited assistant from her predecessor; Vogel plays city attorney Bill Boltz.

The series was officially picked up for two seasons earlier this month with Deadline exclusively revealing the project was in the works in early 2023.

Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost) will write, executive produce, and showrun. David Gordon Green (Halloween, Stronger) is set to direct the first two episodes.

Kidman will executive produce for Blossom Films, and Curtis will executive produce for Comet Pictures. Cornwell will executive produce for P & S Projects alongside Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, and Chris McCumber for Blumhouse Television and Per Saari for Blossom Films. David Gordon Green and Amy Sayres also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Blumhouse Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Blossom Films and Comet Pictures.

Bacon was last seen in the box office hit Smile, for Paramount and Temple Hill. On the TV side, she notably starred in Jason Katims’ series As We See It for Amazon and had a major role opposite Kate Winslet in HBO’s hit miniseries, Mare of Easttown. She recurred in the second season of Narcos: Mexico on Netflix and previously starred as the lead in HBO’s Here and Now, created by Alan Ball, opposite Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins. On the big screen, she can be seen in Mary Harron’s Charlie Says, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Bacon is repped by Gersh, Range and Schreck, Rose, Dapello, Adams, Berlin, & Dunham.

Righetti’s breakout role was as the trust-fund squandering, world-traveling black sheep, “Hailey Nichol,” on The O.C. which she followed up with the lead role of “Tessa Lewis” in 2004′s North Shore and the drama series Reunion as “Jenna Moretti,” all of which hail from FOX. She led Michael Bay’s remake, Friday the 13th, while filming her series, The Mentalist for CBS. Other film credits include Captain America: The First Avenger and Role Models. Most recently, Righetti starred in Reagan opposite Dennis Quaid and Jon Voight. She is repped by Buchwald and Atlas Artists.

Montgomery is currently filming 1923 for creator Taylor Sheridan. She most recently finished filming Jonathan Baker’s upcoming film Fate, where she stars alongside Faye Dunaway as the younger version of the same character, ‘Tilly.’ She most recently starred in the Paramount+ series, The Ex-Wife and NBC’s New Amsterdam and Quantum Leap. Her previous TV credits include NBC’s This Is Us, WGN America’s Salem, Netflix’s Black Mirror, HBO’s Entourage and PBS’ Downton Abbey; and on the big screen, Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan and Our Idiot Brother. She is repped by CAA, Hamilton Hodell and Untitled Entertainment.

Faracy currently stars as Kristin Bell’s mother in the Netflix comedy Nobody Wants This following her work in Uncoupled also for the streamer. She made her debut in the Warren Beatty film Heaven Can Wait. Additional credits include Hocus Pocus, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, the multi-award-winning HBO film Temple Grandin, Bad Teacher and The Five-Year Engagement. TV credits include ABC’s Modern Family, NBC’s Frasier, NBC’s Will and Grace, as well as Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy for ABC. She is repped by SDB Partners.

Vogel most recently starred in the second season of Netflix’s series Sex/Life opposite Sarah Shahi, as well as the independent film Collection for director Marianna Palka, and Netflix’s thriller Secret Obsession. Other recent works include American Horror Story for FX and Fantasy Island for Columbia Pictures. He is repped by Gersh and Manager Geordie Frey,
