Soulja Boy Demands Ex-Girlfriend Submit to Mental Exam After Accusing Him of Assault
Soulja Boy revealed his plan to have his ex-girlfriend submit to a mental examination as part of her $10 million lawsuit against him, In Touch can exclusively reveal.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Soulja [real name: DeAndre Way] said he recently deposed his ex, who filed her lawsuit using the pseudonym Jane Doe in 2021.
In the suit, Doe claimed to have dated Soulja on-again, off-again for years until she ended things for good in 2019.
Doe detailed one alleged assault in 2015 that she said led to her having a miscarriage. Soulja, 34, denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
In his recent filing, Soulja asked for additional time to conduct discovery. He said during his ex’s deposition she “was unable to provide critical documentation related to” the claims in her lawsuit.
His attorney said, “Additionally, she identified several key witnesses who may provide pertinent information, and these witnesses must be deposed.”
His lawyer continued, “Moreover, [Doe] also testified that she had undergone multiple abortions, but could not recall how many or where they occurred. [Doe] also stated that she has been suffering with anxiety that developed throughout her relationship with [Soulja], and the defense needs to conduct an Independent Mental Examination of [Doe] in order to properly evaluate her mental health and assess the claims being made.”
Regarding the mental exam, his lawyer said, “the need for a mental examination is particularly relevant because [Doe] has indicated in her testimony that she has experienced anxiety and other psychological issues stemming from the alleged incidents and relationship with [Soulja]. The examination will allow [Soulja’s] expert to evaluate the extent of these claims, providing critical information regarding the validity of the claim as well as the impact of the alleged emotional distress on [Doe’s] life."
The witnesses that Soulja said he needs to depose include Doe’s mother and several third parties.
As In Touch previously reported, in her lawsuit, Doe detailed the alleged 2015 incident. She said during a “simple conversation” Soulja turned “irate and violent.”
“During their conversation, [Soulja] began to punch [Doe] in the face and chest, until she could no longer stand on her feet,” the suit read. Doe, who claimed to be pregnant at the time, accused Soulja of kicking her stomach.
“Soon thereafter, [Doe] suffered a miscarriage and was unable to carry her pregnancy into full term,” the lawsuit read. Doe sued seeking $10 million in damages, $5 million for emotional distress and another $5 million for pain and suffering.
The suit accused the rapper of assault, sexual battery, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
Soulja asked the court to dismiss the suit. He argued Doe had “not been damaged in the sums alleged, or in any sum, or at all."
His lawyer said, “With respect to all causes of action, [Soulja] alleges that the willful, intentional, deliberate, malicious and fraudulent conduct of others was/were responsible for and proximately contributed to the damages alleged to have been sustained, if any such damages were sustained, the fact of which is expressly denied, and that such conduct constitutes a bar to [Doe’s] s recovery hereunder."
Doe has yet to respond to Soulja’a request for a mental examination.
