Sources Reveal if Matt Damon Has Been Helping Ben Affleck Amid Jennifer Lopez Divorce Rumors
Okay, so you know that iconic song from Garfunkel & Oates called “Me, You, and Steve,” that has become a staple meme on TikTok? The one where the song goes, “It’s just me and you and you and me, Just us, and your friend Steve?” Basically, that’s what we imagine for Bennifer, and Matt Damon. Truly, Damon has been Ben Affleck’s best friend, and they’ve been together through thick and thin. During Affleck’s alleged, incoming divorce from Jennifer Lopez, Damon has reportedly been Affleck’s rock.
A source recently told Entertainment Tonight that Damon has been super supportive of Affleck during this time. “Ben is sad about it all but focused on his work, being a great dad and co-parenting well with Jennifer Garner,” they said. “He has been leaning on Matt Damon and his close circle of guy friends. Matt is always in Ben’s corner and is supportive of him.”

Now, along with being Affleck’s best friend and collaborator, he’s also been very protective of Affleck, especially during his rekindled romance with Lopez.
OK Magazine reported in 2023 that Damon isn’t exactly Lopez’s biggest fan. “Matt’s had serious reservations about Bennifer 2.0 since the beginning. He’s tried to be publicly supportive for Ben’s sake, but the fact is he hates the way J.Lo treats his buddy and can no longer hold his tongue!”
Now, it seems that Damon is supporting his best buddy, and we’re sure Affleck appreciates it during this turbulent time.
For those who don’t know, Damon and Affleck met back in the 1980s, when they were 8 and 10 years old and lived two blocks away from one another in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Since then, they’ve co-starred in movies, wrote Good Will Hunting together, and have supported one another throughout it all.
As for Affleck and Lopez, their romance starts in 2003. Lopez and Affleck fell in love on the set of the film Gigli. They appeared in a couple more projects together, and got engaged by the end of 2002, per People. In 2003, they postponed their wedding and then broke up days before, due to the paparazzi and pressure they faced, and were broken up by 2004.
In 2021, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance. A year later, they got engaged and married in a lavish ceremony, but as of June 2024, it seems their marriage is strained, and breakup rumors have been looming over them.
