A southern twist: Raising Cane’s opening downtown Iowa City location
A second Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers is expected to open in Johnson County later this year, offering University of Iowa students a new go-to for chicken fingers and a signature sauce.
The popular fast food restaurant will be located in the Old Capitol Town Center in downtown Iowa City, where Panera Bread used to operate.
Renovation is currently underway at 201 S. Clinton St. The City of Iowa City issued building permits for the project in November. The permits will expire between May and July.
An official opening date has not yet been released.
Johnson County's first Raising Cane's opened in April of 2022 at 2800 Commerce Drive in Coralville.
The Louisiana-based chicken finger chain is rapidly growing in the state of Iowa. The new Iowa City location will be the company's eighth franchise in the state, totaling more than 700 across the U.S
Iowa's first Raising Cane's opened in 2016 in Council Bluffs.
