Springsteen Archives to host Stone Pony 50th anniversary panel at iconic Asbury Park club
They're having a panel.
The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University is hosting “Celebrating the Stone Pony Anniversary: Spotlighting 50 Legendary Years of Music Memories” on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the legendary Asbury Park club.
Founding owner Jack Roig and musicians, concert promoters, music writers and other noteworthy members of the music community will participate in the panel, and share “intimate stories and memories from the past 50 years,” according to the Stone Pony website.
More participants will be announced in the coming days. Tickets, $25, are on sale now via ticketmaster.com.
The Stone Pony, opened in February of 1974, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, who were formed at the Pony in '74, will play anniversary shows on Feb. 16 and 17.
Stone Pony general manager Caroline O'Toole and Roig are hosting a 50th anniversary kickoff event on Thursday, Feb. 8. Long-time DJ Lee Mrowicki will spin the tunes, and attendees are invited to reminisce.

The anniversary kick-off month will also include a Feb. 9 show by the reunited Parlor Mob, the city band who formed 20 years and gained national profile. Chad Sabo and Little Hag are also on the bill of the Parlor Mob show. Tickets, $20, are on sale now.
Anniversary events will take place through the year, Pony management said.
