Production is underway on the second season of Squid Game for Netflix ahead of its expected December release, and the first details are emerging about what we can expect from the long-awaited follow-up to one of the most successful streaming shows of all time.

Speaking with RadioTimes, star of Squid Game, Lee Jung-jae, said that "there are so many twists and turns" coming in season two.

"One thing I felt while reading the script is that there's an even deeper emotion that's discovered within season 2," he told RadioTimes.

Lee Jung-jae also praised the script, saying it "is even more interesting than season 1" and teased that there will be "a new set of characters".

"I think there's a very natural connection and transition between these seasons that the audience will really appreciate," he said.

While details are currently being kept under lock and key — including the exact release date — Squid Game season two has been atop people's most anticipated lists for the year.

Over 142 million households tuned in to watch the show that follows a group of cash-strapped contestants who agree to compete in children's games for the chance to win a 45.6 billion-won prize.

Squid Game went on to win six Emmys and even sparked a reality show which will come to Netflix on November 22 this year.
