The New Star Wars: The Acolyte Trailer Is Breathtaking
Disney has released a new trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte, and you’ll want to sit down for this one, because it’s sure to knock you off your feet.
Star Wars: The Acolyte is looking to be the next big thing in the Star Wars universe, with the 8-episode series seemingly being packed with production value and some absolutely amazing costume design. If the trailers are anything to go by, it could also be one of the more interesting stories in the Star Wars universe in recent years.
The new trailer, much like the first Star Wars: The Acolyte trailer, is a flurry of dialogue and mysterious camera shots, with strong lines like “Last night, a Jedi was murdered,” and “Destiny is not decided for you by an anonymous force.” These lines absolutely hit right, especially with the gorgeous set design on display, but really, you have to watch the trailer for yourself to get the full impact:
Star Wars: The Acolyte is set roughly 100 years before Star Wars: Episode 1, at the very tail end of the High Republic era. In theory, there are no Sith, the Jedi are doing a great job of managing the galaxy, and there’s no war — the galaxy is at peace. But as we know from the Sith – and as we hear in the trailer – peace is a lie.
Some mysterious, evil entity is hunting down Jedi, something we know will continue for quite some time. Nevertheless, Jedi master Sol – portrayed by the incredible Lee Jung-jae of Squid Game fame – must track down his former Padawan who, let’s be real, seems to have some bloody daggers under her cloak. I’m not saying she necessarily killed any Jedi, but if the Kyber crystal fits…
Perhaps the most intriguing part of this new trailer is Mother Aniseya, who does a lot of speaking in this trailer, including the following, which is very mysterious and foreboding:
“If you want to pull the thread, and change everything, then pull it.”
You’ll have to wait if you want to see what happens when that thread is pulled — Star Wars: The Acolyte premieres its first two episodes on Disney Plus on June 4, 2024. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly following the premiere, so we’ll be unraveling that mystery for quite some time yet, it seems.
In the meantime, if you want to know a little bit more about the characters featured in the trailer, The Acolyte character bios were revealed a few weeks back and give us a few hints at what we’ll see in the series.
Make sure you also check out 6 details you probably didn’t know from the first Star Wars: The Acolyte trailer.
