Many fans wonder whether Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis from the Star Wars Jedi games is canon. Will Cameron Monaghan’s Kestis appear in live-action? Here is all you need to know.

Is Cal Kestis canon in Star Wars?

Yes, Cal Kestis canon in Star Wars.

Both the Star Wars Jedi games, Fallen Order and Survivor, are canon. Both games contain explicit references to events of the film series and its companion material such as Order 66. Cal Kestis is revealed to have survived the event that doomed the galaxy, killed many Jedi, and sent some Jedi such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda into hiding. Obi-Wan himself made a brief cameo appearance in Jedi: Fallen Order via archive footage.

One piece of proof that Cal Kestis and his Star Wars Jedi games are canon is the presence of Fortress Inquisitorious. This location first appeared in Jedi Fallen Order and made a reappearance in 2022’s Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus series.

The games also incorporate some of the bigger characters from Star Wars canon into them, such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Vader plays a more significant role in Jedi Survivor as the killer of Cal’s mentor Cere Junda, while Boba appears in Survivor as part of a side quest involving bounty hunting.

Will Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis Appear in Star Wars Live-Action?

Cameron Monaghan has stated that he would reprise his role of Cal Kestis from the Star Wars Jedi games in live-action material only if it makes sense to the story. He expressed that he does not want to reprise the role just for the sake of it.

As reported by The Direct from a panel at FanExpo Vancouver 2024, Cameron Monaghan revealed what it would take for him to reprise the role in live-action Star Wars projects saying:

“It would have to be right. By that I mean, it has to continue the story or the character in some way. I don’t want him to just kind of show up to stand around and be there. I want him to mean something and for there to be a significance for the character itself. So, it would have to make sense. But in the right context then, yeah, absolutely.”
