Book your passage aboard Disney's all-new 'Star Wars' resort, the Galactic Starcruiser
After spending your day exploring Batuu — the setting for Disney World’s new Star Wars realm, Galaxy’s Edge — there’s no better place to pass the evening hours than aboard a full-service Galactic Starcruiser. As the D23 Expo kicks off in Anaheim, Calif., the Walt Disney Company revealed new details and concept art about the latest Walt Disney World resort... and it sounds out of this world.
Visitors to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser resort will find themselves boarding the good ship Halcyon, owned and operated by the Chandrila Star Line. (If you’re a walking Star Wars Holocron, you’ll know that Chandrila is home to Mon Mothma, the famed Rebel leader turned New Republic chancellor.)
And don’t think that you’ll spend the entirety of your stay in your quarters: There are ongoing storylines playing out aboard the Halcyon that demand your active participation.
A press preview for the hotel revealed some of the amenities Star Wars fans can look forward to when they board the starship. In addition to a bar area where you can play rounds of Sabacc while knocking back a variety of multi-colored beverages, there’s an arcade with a variety of games and a lobby where Storm Troopers mingle with droids. The rooms, meanwhile, provide galaxy-facing windows and plenty of bells and whistles — not to mention lights and buttons.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser resort will be docked at the Hollywood Studios section of the Walt Disney World, where Galaxy’s Edge is set to open on Aug. 29. (Though you’ll have to wait until Dec. 5 to experience the hotly anticipated attraction, Rise of the Resistance.) And while an opening date for the resort — not to mention the price of a multi-night stay aboard the Halcyon — has yet to be announced, we think you’ll agree that it’s the only way to fly to Batuu.
D23 runs from Aug. 23-25 in Anaheim, Calif.
