Stars Showed Up In The Name Of Black Eminence At The 2024 Black Music Honors
The 9th Annual Black Music Honors was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA on Saturday (May 18) where guests basked in Black distinction.
The annual event — which celebrated the illustrious achievements and contributions of Black music icons — honored Johnny Gill, Patrice Rushen, Bootsy Collins, Hezekiah Walker and MC Lyte.
Performers for the evening included: BLK ODYSSY, Chanté Moore, Donald Lawrence, Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, Ricky Dillard, MonoNeon, Shanice, The Chi (Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister & Syleena Johnson) and Tone Stith.
“For the past 9 years, Black Music Honors has surrounded and supported the amazing artists who have entertained millions. This year’s celebrants are trailblazers and deserve to be honored,” stated Founder and Executive Producer, Don Jackson. “We are extremely proud to bring more visibility to these tremendous icons who have stayed the course from humble beginnings to careers that span decades. Their lives and stories are part of the beautiful tapestry of black music…which has impacted the globe.”
In addition to the honorees, a slew of famous faces attended the event, including Ceelo Green, Marsha Ambrosius, Chrisette Michele, Next, Mr. Talkbox, J. Brown, After 7, Jekalyn Carr, Mali Music, Ruben Studdard, Kim Burrell, David & Tamela Mann and more.
The LeToya Luckett and DeRay Davis co-hosted ceremony was pre-recorded, but will premiere on the Stellar Network Saturday, June 1, at 8 PM ET, while continuing to air during Black Music Month.
