Step Into the Magic as Aldo Unveils Its ‘Wicked’-Inspired Shoe Collection

Get ready to go to Oz this month as Aldo teams up with Universal Pictures for its first-ever capsule collection inspired by the upcoming film “Wicked.”
Launching Oct. 17, is the 33-piece, limited-edition Wicked x Aldo collab, featuring a variety of women’s and men’s footwear, handbags and accessories.
The shoes range from sneakers to gravity-defying platforms, celebrating the duality of “Wicked” characters Elphaba and Glinda as the designs pay homage to Elphaba’s emerald tones and Glinda’s glittering pink ensembles.
The Tony Award-winning musical, following the untold story of the witches of Oz, has been adapted for the silver screen as a two-part cinematic event, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. “Wicked” Part One hits theaters Nov. 22, while “Wicked” Part Two lands Nov. 26, 2025.
For Aldo, the collaboration with was a no brainer as the brand’s partnership strategy continues to resonate with consumers.
The “Wicked” collection, for instance, follows Aldo x Barbie’s massive success in 2023. According to the company, the collab showcased a new demand from its consumers after selling 50% of the line out within its first week becoming Aldo’s most viral collection to date. It garnered 1.89 billion impressions, amassing 32.7 million hashtag views, 51.3 million video views and more than 50,000 new followers across TikTok, Twitter and Instagram.
Aldo is aiming to do the same with the buzz around “Wicked.”
“What we’ve realized as a secret sauce is really having that big pop culture moment, like a blockbuster film, but also an all-star cast. The ‘Wicked’ story itself, and the production itself, is so sensational that we would rank this in a similar kind of range as that first ‘Barbie’ release moment that we had,” Aldo’s VP Global Brand Strategy, Amanda Amar, told FN, about the potential impact of the partnership. “Collaborations for us have really brought in a new audience. With all the hype that’s happening across multiple categories [for ‘Wicked’], there’s this general excitement [around the film]. And even people who hadn’t previously seen ‘Wicked,’ they’re more intrigued so that can actually work in our favor. There’s almost like a ripple effect happening.”
Fans of the musical will appreciate the Easter eggs designed into the styles, as well. While the shoes are indeed wearable, the goal was to make the shoes an experience for the wearer — down to the unboxing.
“For our team to get the opportunity to combine our Aldo DNA with Elphaba and Glinda’s emblematic style has been so inspiring and we really hope that our consumers feel all of the passion behind it,” added Daianara Grullon Amalfitano, Aldo chief brand and product officer. “Our goal was to design a collection that not only celebrates the duality of these characters but also injects elements of elevated playfulness in wearable pieces that can be transformed from day to night. This capsule is a true representation of the magic and whimsy that both ‘Wicked’ and Aldo bring to the table.”
The Wicked x ALDO Collection will be available for purchase on October 17, both online at ALDOShoes.com and in-stores.
