Stephen Colbert regrets claiming that conservative journalist Jonah Goldberg is a Trump ally
On Wednesday’s The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert issued a rare correction concerning how he had described National Review senior editor Jonah Goldberg on Tuesday’s show.
Colbert had referred to Goldberg by saying, “Even Trump’s allies are worried about how his lawyers are dealing with the tweet-storm. Just ask conservative columnist and guy at a magic convention inviting you back to his hotel room, Jonah Goldberg.”
Goldberg is a staunch “Never Trumper.” In fact, Goldberg wrote an article titled “Never Trump Nevermore.” So he was as surprised as anyone to hear Colbert call him an ally of the president.
Huh. So this happened. https://t.co/Y0EyOOh1KQ

On Wednesday, Colbert issued what was labeled “a rare correkshun.” He said, “We here at The Late Show regret many things. And I want to extend a portion of that regret to Jonah Goldberg and Jonah Goldberg’s family, because to many Americans the label ‘Trump ally’ is a hurtful slur.”
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.
