Stephen Colbert turns Trump's hurricane comments into a children's book
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert extracted some of President Trump’s more questionable statements during his tour of Hurricane Florence damage and turned them into a children’s book.
“[Trump’s] comments are so disturbingly inappropriate relative to this tragedy, the only way we could make them remotely palatable is to turn it into a children’s book,” Colbert explained.
The dialogue in “Whose Boat Is This Boat? Comments That Don’t Help in the Aftermath of a Hurricane” is composed entirely of actual Trump quotes.
While many of the president’s remarks would be considered tone-deaf, they kind of work in a kids’ book. One passage includes a cartoon of Trump asking victims, “Is this your boat? Or did it become your boat?”
Colbert didn’t say anything about publishing the volume, but that’s probably for the best. He admitted that the moral of the story is that “there is no moral.”
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.
