Stevie Wonder performs 'Purple Rain' at Prince tribute concert

Since Prince's death last month, Aretha Franklin and the cast of Broadway's The Color Purple performed "Purple Rain" to honor the fallen star. Friday night, it was Stevie Wonder's turn at the mic. 

A free Prince tribute concert was held at L.A.'s City Hall featuring the likes of Eric Benet, Aloe Blacc, Faith Evans, and Deitrick Haddon. While Benet covered "Wanna Be Your Lover" and "Raspberry Beret" earlier in the night, Wonder closed it out with "Purple Rain."

"What an incredible life, music, and legacy that he gave us," Wonder said on stage. "I think the only thing we can do, in the spirit of Prince, is to learn to truly love one another and come together. And we can't just talk about it, we gotta be about it."

Wonder, who performed "Purple Rain" on CBS This Morning a couple weeks ago, told Anderson Cooper during an interview, "It’s a heartbreak to lose a member of that army of love. It’s rare for me that I can feel, with every single breath, how he just passionately loved music."
