Who knew a surplus of maple syrup could lead to such a Sticky situation?

Amazon on Monday released the very first footage for The Sticky, a dark comedy about a multi-million dollar heist on Quebec’s maple syrup surplus, which will premiere Friday, Dec. 6. All six episodes will drop at once.

More from TVLine

The half-hour series, which hails from showrunners Ed Herro and Brian Donovan (American Housewife), “follows Ruth Landry (played by The Americans‘ Margo Martindale), a tough, middle-aged maple syrup farmer who turns to crime when the bureaucratic authorities threaten to take away everything she loves,” according to the official logline. “She teams up with the hot-tempered Bostonian mobster (Silicon Valley’s Chris Diamantopoulos) and a mild-mannered French-Canadian security guard (Epidemic‘s Guillaume Cyr) to carry out a multi-million dollar heist on Quebec’s maple syrup surplus.”

In the trailer (which you can watch embedded above), the unlikely trio of syrup thieves are introduced as they evade the long arm of the law, create mayhem in their quest for liquid gold and (potentially!) dabble in murder. The trailer also delivers the first glimpse of Oscar and Emmy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis, who sinks her teeth into a guest-starring role and also serves as an executive producer.

The series is inspired by a real-life heist that made international headlines in 2012, which saw more than $18 million (!) worth of maple syrup stolen from Quebec’s national reserves.
