There Is Still a Way Beth Might Have Survived the 'Yellowstone' Finale

From Esquire

The first rule of dramatic television is that no one is actually dead until there is a body. That being said, the Season Three finale of Yellowstone didn't bode well for most of the Dutton family. When we left the mildly problematic, yet lovable ranching dynasty, Kayce was getting shot up in his office and John was bleeding out on the side of the road. No one's situation looked more precarious than Beth's though. You win that honor when your entire office is blown up by a bomb. Woof.

As my mom always says, let's do the bad news first: in the real world, Beth would definitely be dead. That was a giant bomb with a massive fire blast that blew out windows. No amount of Beth's unbridled rage and luxurious hair could navigate that kind of disaster. The good news is this is TV world, and we already have three major reasons to believe Beth isn't dead, which is nice because Yellowstone isn't Yellowstone without Beth quite literally telling a fragile, terrified looking assistant to go fuck themselves.

Out of the gate, let's look at the most promising fact: Rip Wheeler. When we asked actor Cole Hauser if he saw a situation where Rip and Beth could end up together, Hauser said:

I think that world is starting to open up. That's absolutely something that could happen. You're going to see how it shakes out at the end, but... That relationship, it could go many different ways, but I think it could go in the way of us being together.

To play devil's advocate, Rip also had a full conversation with his mother's corpse in the finale, so we're not quite sure where Rip's head is, but that's a promising quote. He also referenced an ideal end with Beth and him "in a shack," so there's hope.

As for how she survives the massacre, the bomb inside the box was addressed to Beth, but she wasn't the one that opened it. While her new assistant is most certainly just misty human remains at this point, Beth had about 15 feet between her and the bomb. Pair that with the fact that she might have gotten down behind the desk, and we're just looking at another season of Beth with some scars on her face. Pour one out for Kelly Reilly's makeup artist.

If all hope feels lost, sometimes it's best to cross-reference TV physics. Back in 2006, Grey's Anatomy blew a bomb up in a hallway and Dr. Meredith Grey lived through it with one forehead scratch. Anything can happen, and considering that this show once operated on its main character in a traveling vet hospital van, I'm not counting Beth out yet.
