‘Stranger Things’ Broadway Play Throws in 30 Days of Free Netflix with Ticket Purchase
The expansion of “Stranger Things” to the stage is hoping to draw more people to the screen.
IndieWire can announce that stage play “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” attendees will be gifted a 30-day Netflix subscription for ticket purchases up until September 30, 2024. Netflix is one of the few streaming platforms that does not have a free trial; this partnership marks the first effort from the streamer to land subscribers through a trial.

The 30-day Netflix subscription will be redeemable through a gift card. The offer is valid for one 30-day subscription to Netflix’s Standard Plan per ticket order, purchased by Monday, September 30, 2024, and is only for new Netflix members in the U.S. and U.K.
The upcoming fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” will debut in 2025. Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Winona Ryder, and more stars lead the ensemble cast.
Olivier Award-winning play “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” premiered on the West End at the Phoenix Theatre in 2023. The production will run through April 6, 2025.
The play will be coming to Broadway‘s Marquis Theatre on April 22, 2025. Preview performances start Friday, March 28, 2025.
The play is based on an original story by series creators the Duffer Brothers, as well as Jack Thorne and Kate Trefry. Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin co-direct.
The official synopsis reads: “Before the world turned upside down. Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy…and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.”
The play is set 25 years before the Netflix series.
“Stranger Things: The First Shadow” is produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions. The Duffer Brothers serve as creative producers, with 21 Laps Entertainment as associate producer.
Mastercard cardholders will get access to tickets before the general public by entering code HENRY beginning Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 11:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
