‘Stranger Things’ Creators Shoot Down Season 5 Plot Twist Theory About Show’s Ending
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer, who are known as the Duffer Brothers, are shooting down a theory about the series finale.
After five seasons of fighting demons from The Upside-Down, the Netflix sci-fi series is coming to an end. The show’s fifth and final season was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes and fans have been speculating about how the series will conclude.

One theory that has been circling among the most die-hard fans of the show is that none of the events have ever existed. The theory relies on the main characters playing a big, long and convoluted game of Dungeons and Dragons.
“That is correct. That is the ending…. No,” Matt jokingly told Metro at the West End premiere of Stranger Things: The First Shadow about the fan theory.
Ross added, “That would be the equivalent of, ‘That’s all a dream.’ No, I assure you that is not how we’re going to end the show. We’ve known where we’ve been going for a while. And we feel comfortable with it; hopefully, it satisfies everyone. We’ll see.”
Stranger Things was nearing filming for the fifth and final season when the Hollywood strikes hit that put a pause on production of the series. Following the new contracts for writers and actors, production of the sci-fi series is now scheduled to commence in January.
David Harbour, the actor who plays Jim Hopper, recently hinted at how the series will end.
“The beauty of it is there’s a real ending — things will end in a very real way,” Harbour teased.
Star Millie Bobby Brown has also said she is looking forward to she show finalizing after playing Eleven for five seasons.
“I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year,” she told Women’s Wear Daily in an interview done before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”
