'Stranger Things' star Finn Wolfhard says he's been stalked by adult fans

Finn Wolfhard, who shot to fame playing Mike Wheeler in the hit Netflix sci-fi horror series Stranger Things, says he felt threatened by adult fans approaching him.

Wolfhard, who is now 17 and also played Richie Tozer in the remake of Stephen King's It, said that he's been harassed on a number of occasions.

Speaking to Mastermind magazine, he said: “When I was 13, some adults followed me back to my condo when I was shooting It.

“Stranger Things had just come out, and I was by myself. As I walked faster, they walked faster, and I was getting a bit antsy by the time I got to the door.

“Suddenly, they were like, ‘Hey, dude, can we get a selfie?’ And I was like, ‘No you can’t have a selfie! How about don’t follow children?' I also had my taxi followed and, out of the taxi, the person continued to be pretty relentless.”

Fandom for his movie career has also spilled into his music career, formerly with the band Calpurnia and now with The Aubreys, where he adds that during one show 'people were getting crushed, and Ryan Reynolds [a friend of Wolfhard's] almost got injured in Brazil when he went to the barricade'.

Prior to Stranger Things, Wolfhard got his first acting roles in the TV shows The 100 and Supernatural, first playing Mike Wheeler in 2016.

After playing Richie Tozer in It in 2017, he reprised the role briefly in flashback scenes in its sequel, It Chapter Two.

Next up, he'll be playing the role of Trevor in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the long-awaited sequel in the Ghostbusters series, being helmed by Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman.

Alongside him will be Paul Rudd, and original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts.

Currently in post-production, it lands in July.
