'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' brings Hawkins, Indiana, to Broadway this spring
Broadway is about to be turned upside down.
A play based on "Stranger Things," the hit Netflix show set in Hawkins, Indiana, is coming to the United States after a successful run on London's West End.
"Stranger Things: The First Shadow" is a prequel to the Netflix show and is written by Kate Trefry, a writer and co-executive producer on the TV show. The Duffer Brothers, whom Trefry worked alongside to create the original story, are credited as creative producers on the play.

The Olivier Award-winning show will get its first New York performance at the Marquis Theatre on March 28, 2025, and will preview until its opening night on April 22.
Set in 1959 in Hawkins, the play is described on the show's website: "Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach."
