Stranger things in Georgia: Tank Town U.S.A. provides action-movie-level fun
Ever watched something like "The A-Team" or "Fast & Furious 6" and wished that was you wreaking havoc on the screen? You can have a taste of that at Tank Town U.S.A.
Make the drive up to Morganton in the Blue Ridge area of north Georgia and you'll find some extreme entertainment while driving a military vehicle, firing a machine gun, and more.
The mayor of Tank Town is Todd Liebross, who saw something similar to this while he was traveling abroad for work on cargo ships. Eventually he wanted to be home with his kids more and decided a career change was in order. So, he opened this destination of destruction in 2012.

Today, he has a fleet of eight "tanks." While they are technically armored personnel carriers called FV432's, they still have the look and power of a war machine. Customers will get a personal lesson on how they operate, then will get to drive them around for a limited range. They also have the option of driving up and onto a car in order to crush it beneath their powerful wheels.
What else is on the menu? Shoot hundreds of rounds at various car parts with a fully automatic M-1919 or have the ultimate "summer in the sand" fun by digging around with a 40,000-pound construction excavator.
"I think at this point I'm up to 7,000 miles driven with customers. I've crushed about 3,800 cars ... and I've shot 260,000 rounds," Liebross said. "People always ask when I'm going to quit and I always say, 'When I don't smile crushing the cars.' Then I'll know it's time to hang it up."
Prices start at $200 depending the activity and in some circumstances you can bring along a few others for the ride. For more information, go to tanktownusa.com.
