Speaking with The Guardian, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer teased what fans can expect from the upcoming fifth and final season. The Duffer brothers promised the hit Netflix show’s “biggest” season yet, confirming that the original Season 1 kids cast, including Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas, will have more interactions in the highly-anticipated next installment.

“This season – it’s like season one on steroids,” Matt Duffer said. “It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one. And, yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here.”

Stranger Things Season 5 Sets 2024 Production Start

Following the official end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Netflix has finally set the production start date for Stranger Things Season 5. Originally slated for a June 2023 filming start, the cast and crew are now expected to return to the Hawkins set around the first week of January 2024, with January 5 and January 8 as potential target dates for the production start. Ahead of the show’s return, it has been confirmed that Netflix’s upcoming stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow will include Season 5 Easter eggs.

The series currently stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, and Brett Gelman. Season 4 introduced a number of new fan-favorite character characters, including Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson, Bower’s Vecna, Eduardo Franco’s Argyle, Tom Wlaschiha’s Enzo, Grace Van Dien’s Chrissy, and Amybeth McNulty’s Vickie. Besides Bower, it’s currently unclear if the rest of the new Season 4 characters will make appearances in the final season.

Stranger Things is created and executive produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, who also serve as showrunners. Executive producers are Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Iain Patterson. All four seasons are now available for streaming exclusively on Netflix.
