‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Production Reaches ‘Happy Halfway’ Mark, 24 Weeks Down
Stranger Things Season 5 has reached the halfway point of production, but there is still time on Vecna’s creepy clock before the final season arrives.
Ross Duffer, who has been updating his Instagram followers on Season 5’s progress filming, posted a picture of cast and crew with the caption “Week 24. Happy half way to the best cast and crew ever.”

The final installment of the Netflix tentpole series halted production during the WGA and SAG strikes in 2023. Season 4 arrived in 2022 split into two parts, which arrived in May and then July, respectively.
At the end of 2023 after the resolution of both strikes, Deadline exclusively reported that the show aimed to start work on the last season in January 2024. Season 5 launched production on January 8.
Maya Hawke, who stars as Robin in the series, recently gave an update about production on Podcrushed, joking that the show has been a little bit cursed.”

“Our showrunners, Matt and Ross, take a lot of responsibility. They have an amazing team of writers, but they’re very involved,” she told hosts Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari. “They write a lot and they are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and it takes a long time to write each season, and it takes a long time to shoot them.”
Hawke joined the show in Season 3. Her character worked alongside the beloved Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) at Scoops Ahoy in the Starcourt Mall.
She continued, “We’re making, basically, eight movies. The episodes are very long.”
The Duffer Brothers said that the episodes would be shorter compared to those in Season 4 on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

According to the actress, it will take about a year to shoot the show’s last season, which will consist of eight episodes. The sci-fi series was renewed for its fifth and final season in February 2022.
