Streaming Ratings: ‘Those About to Die’ Gets Olympics Boost
Most people who watched Peacock in the week of July 22-28 were watching the Olympics — but two other shows on the NBCUniversal streamer also had a pretty good week.
The swords-and-sandals drama Those About to Die moved into the top 10 original series for the week (it premiered on July 18), likely with an assist from heavy promotion during NBCUniversal’s Olympics telecasts. The series recorded 399 million minutes of viewing time for the week.

Love Island also stayed strong in the week after its July 21 season finale. Though it came down from two straight weeks above a billion minutes, the show’s 724 million minutes of viewing (including earlier seasons on Hulu and Netflix) is very strong for an unscripted series not showing any new episodes during the measured week.
The Olympics were, without question, the biggest streaming event of the week, with 4.5 billion minutes of viewing on Peacock and NBCU’s other digital platforms over the first three days of the games. They are not, however, included in Nielsen’s weekly rankings, which exclude live sports. The top title for the week, non-Paris division, was Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (1.41 billion minutes), which had its streaming premiere July 22 on Netflix.
Four series also crossed the billion-minute mark — including three that also did so a week earlier in Bluey (1.06 billion minutes), Cobra Kai (1.05 billion) and House of the Dragon (1.04 billion). Family Guy (1.03 billion) also joined the club with its best number to date for Hulu.
Two other original series hit the top 10 for the first time: Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent (387 million minutes) for the week its finale debuted and Netflix’s three-episode doc series Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam (369 million). On the movie charts, Netflix’s Hillbilly Elegy remained in the top 10 with 314 million minutes of viewing but fell off by 43 percent a week out from the announcement of its subject, J.D. Vance, as the Republican vice presidential nominee.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for July 22-28, 2024, are below.
