Street artist places Donald Trump's Hollywood Walk of Fame star behind bars

President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame got a little flair this week. Artist Plastic Jesus placed prison bars over the star, tweeting that it was “finally” time POTUS was put “behind bars.”

“There have been calls to jail Trump since the day he was elected, and today he was certainly put behind bars,” Plastic Jesus told HuffPost, explaining that he fixed the bars down with instant-drying “industrial strength double-sided sticky tape.”

“I wanted them to stay down but didn’t want a bill for thousands of dollars to repair the footpath,” he said.

Apparently, a Trump supporter tried removing the bars, to no avail. Plastic Jesus said the “protest art was intended to be humorous.”

This isn’t the first time the British-born street artist has messed with Trump’s star. In 2016, he built a 6-inch wall around it to protest the border wall that the president wants to be built between the U.S. and Mexico.

Trump’s star, which has been a part of the Hollywood landmark since 2007, has been the target of numerous attacks over the past two years. It was just replaced after getting destroyed by someone wielding a pickaxe (for the second time) in July. The star has been covered with stickers, been surrounded by protest signs, had a swastika symbol spray-painted on it, and been smashed with a sledgehammer. This summer, a brawl broke out at the star between pro- and anti-Trump supporters.

It’s no surprise that the West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved a resolution urging the removal of Trump’s star. The only problem? They don’t have a say in the matter, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has made it clear that they have no intention of removing Trump’s star — or anyone else’s.
