Suits: L.A.: Everything We Know So Far
Suits was the show everyone couldn’t stop streaming in summer 2023, and now, the spinoff Suits: L.A. is poised to be the series of 2025 (or 2026?).
Talk of an offshoot first started after the original USA Network drama experienced an unexpected resurgence, soaring to streaming records on Netflix over last summer and becoming the most-streamed program of 2023. Available on the streamer since June (as well as on Peacock), the “blue sky” drama racked up 57.7 billion minutes viewed across its 134-episode library, Nielsen reported in its 2023 wrap-up, easily topping the list of Top 10 overall programs.

The show’s sudden popularity, naturally, led to revival and reboot buzz, before a spinoff set in the Suits universe but revolving around new characters in a new location was ordered to pilot. In July 2024, the project was officially given a series order.
So to prep for a return to court, TVLine has gathered all the intel we have on the spinoff, including its plot, cast, when you can eventually watch it and much more. Read on for everything we know, then hit the comments with your hopes for the show!
What Is Suits: L.A. About?
The project follows a brand new character, Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who “has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” per the official synopsis.
“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,” the description continues. “Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”
Who Will Star in Suits: L.A.?
Arrow and Heels vet Stephen Amell will play the leading role of Ted Black (get a first look above), a former federal prosecutor from New York who is described as a “charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others,” per the official synopsis. “Ted joined forces 15 years ago with his old buddy, Stuart Lane, to build an L.A. law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law.”
Who Is the Female Lead in Suits: L.A.?
Lex Scott Davis (The L Word: Generation Q) has nabbed the female lead role in the project: Erica Rollins, a savvy and strong-willed rising star at the firm who is shrewd enough to test the loyalty of her associates only to admire some of them for not having any.
Who Else Has Been Cast in Suits: L.A.?
The Walking Dead alum Josh McDermitt will star opposite Stephen Amell as Stuart Lane, who joined up with his buddy Ted Black (Amell) to build an L.A. firm. Per our sister site Deadline, Stuart is described as “energetic, powerful, focused and self-absorbed.”
Bryan Greenberg (One Tree Hill) rounds out the series-regular cast as Rick Dodsen, Ted Black’s protégé in the entertainment division of Black Lane Law who is slated to be promoted. He is determined to stay one step ahead of his rival, Erica Rollins (Davis).
Additionally, Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) and Troy Winbush (The Goldbergs, The Wilds) will guest-star in the pilot (with the potential to recur). Lee will play Leah, a young associate attorney who has been assigned to work with (or, as it turns out, for) entertainment attorney Erica Rollins. Winbush, meanwhile, is Ted’s old friend and ex-partner, Kevin, who is a former FBI agent-turned-private detective.
Finally, pilot guest stars include John Amos (Roots, Good Times), Victoria Justice (Victorious) and Kevin Weisman (Alias) as firm clients, per Deadline.
Will the Original Suits Cast Return for Spinoff?
Although there are currently no official plans to incorporate characters from Suits into the spinoff, at least one original cast member is open to the idea of reprising his role.
Suits: L.A. will revolve around a brand-new ensemble, but is set in the same world, “with the possibility of the old characters coming back if it feels right. So I, for one, would be happy to put the suit back on and come in if the story made sense and people wanted it,” Patrick J. Adams, who played Mike Ross, told TVLine at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
Where and When Will Suits: L.A. Air?
The offshoot will air on NBC, which handed the project a series order on July 19. A network rep tells TVLine that it has not yet been determined if the offshoot will air as soon as midseason or be held for the 2025-26 season.
It stands to reason that the show will also stream on corporate sibling Peacock the next day.
Who Will Write Suits: L.A.?
Original series creator Aaron Korsh, who served as showrunner on all nine seasons of the USA Network drama, will pen the spinoff pilot. He will also executive-produce alongside David Bartis and Doug Liman (for Hypnotic), Gene Klein and pilot director Victoria Mahoney.
When and Where Did Suits: L.A. Film?
Despite being set in sunny Los Angeles, production on Suits: L.A. began in late March 2024 in Vancouver, Canada. (Toronto doubled for New York City in the original series.)
