Suits: L.A. — the upcoming Los Angeles-set spin-off series of the popular television series Suits — has landed both a pilot order and a director.

Deadline has reported that the Suits spin-off has received a pilot order from NBC. The series is set to begin production in late March of this year, with filming taking place in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The outlet also reported that Victoria Mahoney is set to direct the new spin-off. Mahoney previously served as the second unit director on the ninth Star Wars film, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, and directed Netflix’s The Old Guard 2. In terms of television, she’s directed episodes of shows like Grey’s Anatomy, You, Lovecraft Country, and The Morning Show.

According to Nielsen, Suits’ Netflix and Peacock releases generated a combined 45 billion minutes of views. The audience’s renewed interest in Suits led NBCUniversal to partner with series creator Aaron Korsh for Suits L.A.

Who created Suits?

Suits was created and executive produced by Aaron Korsh. It starred Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Gabriel Macht, Meghan Markle, Amanda Schull, Dulé Hill, Rick Hoffman, and Sarah Rafferty. The series centered around Adams’ Mike Ross, a college dropout who has an incredible photographic memory. Despite not graduating from law school, he managed to become the newest associate of attorney Harvey Specter, who was instantly impressed by his skills and knowledge.
