'Supergirl': 5 things you need to remember
There’s no two ways about it: The end of Supergirl’s second season was a kryptonite bullet right in the feels.
With National City under siege from the Daxamites, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) demanded the right of Dakkum Ur — trial by combat — to free her city from the Queen of Daxam, Mon-El’s mother, Rhea (Teri Hatcher).
Kara was able to gain the upperhand, until Rhea revealed her body was laced with kryptonite. With no other choice, Kara activated the device created by Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong) to unleash lead into the atmosphere. With Earth now poison to Daxamites, Rhea was killed and her remaining forces fled. Mon-El (Chris Wood) survived, but was forced to leave Earth forever, which totally didn’t make us cry. (We’re almost certain this means he’s going to travel to the 30th Century, where he’ll join the Legion of Superheroes and become the costume hero known as Valor, which totally won’t make us cry.)
In happier news, Kara’s sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), asked Maggie (Loriana Lima) to marry her, which totally didn’t make us cry.
And we learned that Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) knows Kara is Supergirl, which totally didn’t make us cry.
No, seriously. That finale totally didn’t make us cry.
With a new Kryptonian threat on the horizon and Kara still bearing the wounds of a love lost, we are sure the new season totally won’t make us cry.
Season 3 of Supergirl premieres Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
