Surprise! 'Jeopardy!' champion Jackie Fuchs is a former member of the Runaways

Jeopardy! just got some serious rock ’n’ roll cred.

Jackie Fuchs, who played bass for the band the Runaways as a teen in the ’70s, has played on the show’s last three episodes. That’s right, she’s on a winning streak!

Fuchs left the band in 1977 and now works as an attorney and writer in Los Angeles. Back in 2010, she was the inspiration for the character that Alia Shawkat played in the Kristen Stewart movie The Runaways, which was based on band member Cherie Currie’s book about the band. Fuchs wouldn’t allow her name to be used, Shawkat told Nylon magazine at the time.

On Jeopardy!, Fuchs mentioned her storied past during the brief contestant interviews on one of her episodes. In case you missed it, the show’s social media account pointed it out.

The Runaways, which also included Currie, Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Sandy West, broke barriers as an all-female rock band. They produced the song “Cherry Bomb” and toured the world, opening for groups such as Cheap Trick and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

As Pitchfork noted, one clue of the many that Fox has answered correctly had to do with another woman in music. She added to her score by identifying Carly Rae Jepsen as the artist behind “Call Me Maybe.”

This isn’t Fuchs’s first time on a game show, as she competed on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire and The Chase in 2013.
