How’s this for a “Survivor first”: The Season 47 finale will not only be a two-parter, but will air over two weeks, TVLine has confirmed.

Part 1 of the Survivor 47 closer will run two hours and is set to air Dec. 11 at 8/7c on CBS. But in order to find out who wins, you’ll also have to tune in the following Wednesday, Dec. 18 — same time, same place, same episode length.

Like all of the other seasons in the new era, the crowning of the new champ will immediately be followed by an aftershow that was filmed directly after the votes were read on location. (Hooray for the winner, but huge bummer for the losers?)

Survivor’s recent supersizing trend began with Season 45 when its episodes were expanded from 60 to 90 minutes, partly due to the simultaneous actors’ and writers’ strikes of 2023. Since then, the show maintained its XL format, with the occasional two-hour episode sprinkled in throughout. However, never has the finale stretched to four hours and two weeks, which means this season will run for a total of 14 weeks versus its typical 13.

In the latest installment (read our Episode 9 recap here), former Lavo tribe member Sol was blindsided by a plan masterminded by his former ally Genevieve. He became the second member of the jury, leaving nine players still in the running for the million dollars and title of Sole Survivor: Gabe Ortis, Teeny Chirichillo, Rachel LaMont, Sam Phalen, Andy Rueda, Caroline Vidmar, Kyle Ostwald and Sue Smey.

EW was first to report the news.
