‘Survivor’ fans say amulet twist should be discontinued because it’s ‘too risky’ [POLL RESULTS]
In this week’s episode of “Survivor 47,” the castaways took host Jeff Probst to task for the amulet twist, which is actually seen as more of a “disadvantage” by the fandom at large. You see, in order for the three amulets to gain their full power as an immunity idol, each holder (in this case, Andy Rueda, Caroline Vidmar and Teeny Chirichillo) has to agree on whom to play it for. That comes with its own pros and cons, as it bonds the trio together, but it also make them targets — both from each other and from the group at large.
Gold Derby recently conducted a poll asking “Survivor” viewers if the amulet twist should remain in the game or not, and a majority of 60% of respondents said they wanted it discontinued because “it’s too risky.” As for the remaining poll results, 31% of voters said they didn’t care either way, while 9% of fans said it should remain in the game.

At tribal council, Jeff at first seemed confused by the idea of the amulet twist being anything but positive. “Well, the amulet is for sure seen like a disadvantage,” Rome Cooney told him. “That’s why the people with the amulets tonight are gonna be getting rid of it and getting it out of the game.” Indeed, they did, and Teeny was deemed safe when all three amulets were played for her.
The host replied that his heart was “breaking,” and asked 30-year-old E-sports commentator from Phoenix, Arizona to explain everything while sitting in his chair. Rome quickly took Jeff up on his offer and proceeded to detail how, if players have a three-way, shared, public advantage like the amulet, it’s in their best interest to get rid of it, or they risk being targeted.
“Duly noted,” Jeff said, almost as if Rome’s speech finally convinced him what viewers have known since the amulet was first introduced in Season 42. Rome got emotional as he returned to his seat, declaring through tears, “That just meant the world to me.” Rome was later voted out of the game by a 9-2-1 vote over Andy and Sam Phalen.
